WE DON’T WANT NO GAY GOTH SCENE IN THIS HOUSE

The first glimpse of the new record is in sight. “Gay Goth Scene” – already known to live audiences – will be previewed first as a short film. Toronto fans will get the chance to preview the new single from the forthcoming album Age (set for release in the fall of 2013) this month at Inside Out Film Festival.  The video was directed by Kai Stänicke and shot in Berlin last winter. More information coming soon.

Production still from “Gay Goth Scene” by Elsa Quarsell.

Hidden Cameras Gay Goth

The Hidden Cameras cover Michael Jackson

Rolling Stone are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of arguably one of pop’s greatest albums – Thriller – by giving away a covers album of the record. The Hidden Cameras open it with their version of Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ with synths’n’beats provided by Africa (one half of In the Na remixers, Dolby Anol).  Why not slip on a white glove and make your way over to the Cameras’ soundcloud page for a listen. Shamone!

German Reading Corner

The Hidden Cameras are honoured to be the inspiration behind the titles of two recent German language books.

#1 “Music Is My Boyfriend: Texte 1990-2010” is a collection of music articles by the late and well-respected music journalist Martin Büsser. The book begins by quoting the classic Cameras’ song, “I found music and he found me, he kept me singing ‘til my dying day” and continues later with a chapter devoted to the band itself. The Hidden Cameras are pleased to be credited for the quotation (unlike those title stealing ho’s, CSS, Skye Sweetnan and the like.)

#2 In German academic book by Sushila Mesquita, “Ban Marriage!” the author “explores the ambivalences of normalization of lesbians and gays in contemporary ‘western’ societies from a queer-feminist perspective.” “Ban Marriage! Ambivalenzen der Normalisierung aus queer-feministischer Perspektive” (which would translate to “Ban Marriage! Ambivalences of normalization from a queer-feminist perspective” in English) is available now.
